The sports programs for individuals with physical disabilities are designed for athletes ages 6 through adulthood who have an orthopedic, neurological or sensory impairment. This can include but is not limited to cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury, spina bifida, amputation, traumatic brain injury, and visual impairment.
Arizona Disabled Sports is affiliated with several national organizations whose primary purpose is to provide sporting opportunities for individuals with physical disabilities. These include
Disabled Sports USA,
Wheelchair & Ambulatory Sports USA, and
US Paralympics.
Sports currently offered by Arizona Disabled Sports include archery, bowling, cycling, kayaking, power soccer, swimming, track & field, and wheelchair basketball. AzDS offers two seasons - Summer/Fall and Winter/Spring and programs are offered year-round. A registration form, waiver and medical release are required before participation can take place.
Year-Round Overview of Programs
AzDS charges a registration fee per season which supports the costs of facilities, coaches and uniforms. The seasonal fee structure includes:
$35 for one sport
$40 for two sports
$45 for three or more sports
